Organised by Dr Georgia Pavlopoulou the LiLAS lab hosted their first UCL Open Sleep Day event. The event was open to parents, teens and professionals with an interest in sleep science, typical and atypical development and family experiences. In addition, a group of year 6 pupils from a local school came along for a workshop on sleep. The day consisted of:
· A series of talks by sleep researchers and experts covering sleep issues in neurodevelopmental conditions and syndromes and the ways these relate to learning, executive functions and mental health
· An interactive sleep workshop – where pupils learnt about why we sleep, how sleep works, the ways in which sleep relates to our physical and mental health, how to use a sleep diary and measure blood oxygen levels.
· A collaborative poetry workshop about sleep and dreams
