Sleeping Newborn

Welcome to SERL

Research Focus

With the research interests of our laboratory director, Professor Dagmara Dimritiou, lie in sleep disorders, mental health, and how these relate to the learning and behaviours in neuroatypcial population, our laboratory aims to examine the sleep of a wide range of neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome (WS), Visual Impairment (VI), eating disorders, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), and how sleep influences their cognition, behaviours, mental health, as well as their families.

Current Collaboration

Appreciation goes to the charitable organisations of The John and Lorna Wing Foundation, Cerebra, and Williams Syndrome Foundation. They fund and support research in Autism, child brain conditions, and Williams syndrome, respectively.

Through these collaborations, our research has been endeavouring to understand and ameliorate the impact of sleep on these populations with neuroatypcial conditions and provide support to family caregivers.
